Aucta internal operations tool
Aucta Store A Backup
An internal tool that makes a daily encrypted backup of one Aucta recovery database and stores it in a dedicated folder in the operator's own Google Drive.
What it does
"Store A" is a separate Aucta database that keeps a record of deletions and similar actions, so they can be applied again if the main database ever has to be restored from an older copy. Once a day an automated job:
- reads Store A through a read-only login;
- encrypts the export;
- checks that the export can be decrypted and restored into a temporary database, then removes that database;
- uploads the encrypted file and a small summary file to a dedicated Google Drive folder;
- removes its own older backup sets under the retention rules in the privacy notice.
Why it uses Google Drive
Keeping a copy with a different provider means the backup survives a failure at the place Store A is hosted. The tool asks Google for one permission only, drive.file, which lets it use files and folders it created itself. It cannot see or change anything else in the operator's Drive.
Use
This tool is operated by Aucta for its own recovery purposes. It is not offered to anyone else, and there is nothing here to sign up for or install.
